Right up front I am going to tell you yesterday I was an emotional basket case. Yesterday was the big day for my sister and my niece, both had Lap=band surgery at the same time. I prayed and prayed, while I waited and waited to hear everything went well. By 10:00am I could not sit still, rather than panic I busied my self around the house.
My family lives in Arizona and I live in Texas (can you say isolated).
Living so far away I had to just be patient. I am stubborn and not patient. I had so much nervous energy that I did laundry, cleaned the kitchen twice and did two 20 minute sessions on the treadmill. I desperately needed some redirection. Eating was creeping into my insecurity and that would not help anything! So back to the treadmill I went. I have a TV right in front of my treadmill to help me focus forward.
About 5 minutes into my workout a commercial started to play....My Surgeon was advertising his services. I smiled, God knew just how to keep me focused on the right way to deal with my anxiety.
Recharged with focused energy, although still nervous, I checked my email and facebook page...still no news.....HuHHHHHHH..I went and got the mail, all junk and a local ad magazine. Jaws tired from chewing gum I ventured into the kitchen to get something to eat. While the microwave was ticking away I browsed through the ad magazine from the mail. The last page of the magazine....MY SURGEON! At this point I burst out laughing and said out
loud "Okay God I know it's time for me to trust you and check in for my 1st year anniversary with Dr.Kim." Good thing I had veggies in the microwave and not cake huh?
Trust God, he is always there and always gives you what you truly need. I picked up the phone and made my 1ST Anniversary appointment with Dr.Kim's office. The next time I checked my facebook I was blessed with to see a posting by my brother=in-laws Mom, Sue, she had heard that both the girls were in recovery and doing well. I cried, as I am right now, tears of joy, tears of relief and tears of gratitude. Our God is an awesome God. I always believed this was the right thing for our genetic package and I do trust God. Still I'm human and my fears for my loved ones were based on my experience, my relief today is palpable.
I love you Terri and Kate... NOW Walk it's the only to get rid of the gas.

Surprise Surprise
On your journey, when you least expect it, you can be shocked by the results you see and hear. No I'm not talking about the deflated balloon effect I am experiencing in my arms and stomach. My body landscape is changing and it's not all good. Enough said about that subject. The most recent surprise I have encountered were results from my yearly physical tests.
I never thought I would see the words NORMAL, GOOD or EXCELLENT in relationship to my test of any kind. If I can get these so can anyone else who follows the plans set for you by your medical team. The following are what is and what was:
1) Kidney: Good.....before in hospital I had to has IV to urinary tract.
2) Electrolytes: Good
3) Liver: Good....Never in 20plus years have I had close to good, usually very elevated numbers indicating fatty liver condition.
4) Lipid Studies: EXCELLENT
Total Cholesterol 151
Triglyceride 46
LDL 72
HDL 70
5) Thyroid Studies: NORMAL......not since I was 12 years old have I been Normal
6) Diabetic Tests: Blood Glucose Normal...No Evidence of Diabetes....I was Diabetic
Hemoglobin A1C: 5.9....normal
7) CBC: Normal NOT Anemic, Iron is Normal....I was so anemic I required transfusions and Iron IV's
8) Bone Density: Normal...this was tested because I lost almost an inch in height..I never expected loosing weight to have an effect on my height.
Finally My Hormones were tested...I have been infertile for 25 years the following is my Surprise Surprise exactly worded as my Doctor wrote it for me.
FSH/LH: NORMAL You are NOT officially in menopause, You can still get pregnant!!!!
HELLO!!!! I am going to be a grandmother in a month. I never expected to have to worry about pregnancy again in my life. But being a devout Christian I trust God to be in charge and this will not change my life except I feel younger.
Sorry to have gone on and on but I wanted you all to see the potential improvements you can achieve. Remember my surgeon only agreed to do my surgery because he thought I only had a couple of years left of life without major changes....He loves saying he told me this could happen.
I pray it happens for you too!

Day 2 Fast
The first day of my fast went pretty well. I did have trouble getting all 5 shakes down. It seems my "Sisters" are doing really well. Prayer is the first line of defense today. Both Kate and Terri have positive attitudes and great faith. They will be rewarded for their efforts with renewed energy.
Girls, if you get to a point where you can't stop thinking of food, or the fact you don't get any, I have a recommendation for you. I walk for 5 minutes and my brain sends out new messages of will power. Walking with a view is even better to take your mind to better thoughts. Have a relaxed conversation with God, not really a prayer but more like speaking with an dear friend. Remember you are very loved and needed by lots of people and this fast is the gateway to your procedure. This whole process will ensure you are there for them in a healthy state.
Bud's Babes lets take on the world. Hope you all like the group name I am using....it's that or Kitty's Litter. I wish Dad could have joined us, but I am sure he is watching and cheering us on from Heaven.

Sisters of Solidarity
This is a big day for my sisters and I. Kate in this you are not my niece but my sister. Today we begin our 2 week fast, liquid protein and water or calorie free beverages only. This might seem like a daunting task around noon today but stick with it, it does get easier. We are cleansing our bodies and strengthening our will to succeed. I am so excited for all of us.
This is just the beginning for Terri and Kate, they are just Two weeks away from Lap-band surgery. They have gone through months of training and medical care to reach this day. Mariann and I are well into our loss journey. Mariann was the family pioneer, she is two plus years out from her Lap-band surgery. I am so proud of her successful movement toward her goal. I, myself am about eleven months post surgical from Gastric Sleeve surgery. For Terri and Kate this fast is a requirement for the procedure. Mariann and I have chosen to fast in support of them and to further our own progress. Together, with love and support, we will all reap the benefits of our fasts.
WOOW WOOW RAH RAH LET'S GO GIRLS ...BUD'S BABES BODY CHALLENGE BEGINS NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Today
I'm still moving and really trying. This week has been tough. I missed the holiday with family and truthfully I missed the comfort foods. I don't have anything else to say so goodnight.

Talk the Talk
Sometimes we search for the right words to express our want and needs. I want to speedup my weight loss, I need to succeed. Following the eating plan is not enough. I need to move more...seriously more!
I CAN TALK THE TALK AND WALK THE WALK
I WILL WALK THE WALK
Yes I am yelling this statement loudly in my head. Today I challenge my self to move more, whether it be walking, lifting or stretching. I am my own cheer squad 24/7. GO ME

Fasting Sisters United
Family ties provide the strength required to face the most difficult challenges of our lives. Without the love that warms our hearts the struggle to stay on task is nearly impossible. Knowing you have others who love you unconditionally and support you totally is priceless.
In the spirit of unity I will join my sister,Terri and my niece,Kate, on their fast before going forward with weight loss surgery. The idea came from our sister Mariann's idea to support by joining. Mariann was the leader in this arena. She was the first to have lap band surgery. I am so proud of her success. Without her story I would not have the confidence I did when finally it became apparent it was death or surgery. The fast will not seem easy but it really is a breeze compared to the health problems we all have faced because of our obesity.
So I will join together with my sisters to cleanse our bodies through fasting. Terri and Kate to prepare for the surgery and Mariann and I to refresh our bodies to continue our battle. I'm sure we will pray and cry together as we all come together sometime to in the near future. We are united by genetics and the battle to overcome it's effects on our health. I'll tip my cup to my sisters....WE ARE FAMILY! Kate you are our sister in weight wars.
